Origin of the Curse: attacks & defense

Understand optional PvP, what a breach can cost, and how to prepare before entering Cursed Land.

Attacking is optional

  • Origin of the Curse includes PvP (player versus player) combat. Players can attack other sanctuaries in Cursed Land to plunder Cursed Potions. You can instead earn points by gathering without attacking anyone.
  • Successful attacks can yield Potions, but combat also affects the special resources that generate passive income. Weigh the target's strength and the risk to your own sanctuary before attacking.

Scout before choosing a target

  • Scout another sanctuary to evaluate its strength and decide whether it is a suitable target. If you believe you can defeat it, you may choose to attack.
  • An attack can gain Bones and increase production, but also cost resources and Diamonds. Choose a target you can beat rather than attacking everyone nearby; do not assume every attack guarantees Bones or has a fixed cost.
  • It is not confirmed whether scouting reveals stored Ancient Beast Bones or Runic Idols. Do not assume those holdings are visible or promise a particular amount of loot.

What happens when your sanctuary is breached?

  • A breach occurs when another player successfully breaks through your sanctuary defenses.
  • You may lose some stored Ancient Beast Bones or Runic Idols. Because these resources produce Potions automatically, losing them reduces your future income as well as undoing part of your gathering work.
  • Potions already collected stay safe after a breach: distinguish the points you have already earned from the resources producing future income. Attackers can also plunder Potions, but exactly how that interacts with retained score is not explained; do not assume a breach deducts your earned score or that attacks cannot yield loot.
  • The exact amount lost, scouting visibility and detailed combat loss rules are not specified. Check the live event guide and battle reports instead of assuming fixed losses.

Before entering Cursed Land

  • 1. Assign your strongest available defense lineup.
  • 2. Check nearby enemy sanctuaries; avoid settling near much stronger opponents unless you are prepared for combat.
  • 3. Keep watching incoming attacks and the surrounding area during the round.
  • Check troop injuries after fighting and heal your troops. Protecting your city and maintaining your available lineup matter as much as gathering more resources.
  • 4. Keep City Relocation Items available for an escape. Only the initial relocation into Cursed Land is described as free.
  • 5. If you do not want this sanctuary risk, stay outside Cursed Land with your normal shield and gather event resources instead.

Tip: Do not spend most of a round building passive income and then ignore your defenses. Protect the Bones and Idols producing your Potions.

A practical approach for stronger players

  • Gather first to establish passive production from returned Bones and Idols. If you are strong enough and want to fight, then consider suitable opponents who are stockpiling resources, rather than spending the entire round attacking without building your own income.
  • Fighting can intensify during the short Contest. Keep monitoring your defenses and use scouting to judge strength; stored resources are not confirmed to be visible in scouting reports.
